â101 Stringsâ is the name of a very successful symphonic musical formation of the Easy Listening style with a discography exceeding one hundred albums and a creative life of thirty years . Their long- playing records featured the slogan â the Sound of Splendor â, a soft- cloud logo, and a Sepia- style photograph of the orchestra. The 101 Strings Orchestra, conducted by Wilhelm Stephan, consisted in fact of 124 stringed instruments (all men except the harpist). The most popular photograph of the orchestra was taken in the orchestra pavilion in Hamburg (Germany).
