Match of the Day
Mark Chapman presents highlights from the day’s two Premier League matches, which see Manchester City host Liverpool and Nottingham Forest visit Newcastle. Manchester City may be the reigning champions, but Liverpool have been the dominant team in this season’s top flight and beat City 2-0 at Anfield at the start of December. After several seasons as the top dogs of English football, Pep Guardiola’s side have shown alarming inconsistency in the current campaign, but they can never be written off, especially against one of their biggest rivals. Nottingham Forest, one of the surprise packages of the season, are up against Newcastle United, who also have their eyes on a top-four finish. The sides have already met twice this season, with Newcastle winning on penalties in the EFL Cup in August and then taking three valuable points in a 3-1 win at the City Ground in November.
